Baradin Hold
Following the Second War, the ruined fortress of Baradin Hold on the remote island of Tol Barad was converted into a prison for some of the most dangerous forces on Azeroth. Yet with the devastation wrought by the Cataclysm, the prison's integrity has been compromised. Now as the Horde and Alliance vie for supremacy on the island, the liberation of its forgotten horrors may be at hand.

  • Overview

Unable to contain the massive pit lord Argaloth in the cells of Dalaran's mighty Violet Hold, the magi of the Kirin Tor were left with no choice but to confine the powerful demon beneath Tol Barad.

    Normal Mode

Argaloth is a very simple encounter. It consists of a single phase during which the raid must be positioned in two stacking groups. At 66% and 33% health, there is a short transition phase during which players must avoid patches of fire on the ground.

Meteor Slash deals fire damage that is split among players standing in front of him. Anyone hit receives 100% increased fire damage for 20s. This ability is cast every 15 to 20s.

Consuming Darkness is a damaging shadow DoT applied on 3 random party members in 10-man and 8 in 25-man difficulty. The DoT can and should be dispelled. This ability is cast every 20 to 25s.

Fel Firestorm is cast twice, at 66% and 33% health. For 15s, it continuously creates patches of fire that deal fire damage to anyone standing in them.

In addition to these abilities, Argaloth has a melee swing, which hits for approximately 25k in 10-man and 35k in 25-man difficulty.

The strategy for the fight revolves around the Meteor Slash ability. It gives a stacking debuff that does not have the time to run out between 2 successive casts. Therefore, the raid should be split in 2 balanced groups (with 1 tank, and ideally half the healers and half the DPS). The 2 groups should be positioned in such a way that when Argaloth casts Meteor Slash, only one group is hit and get the debuff.

After a group has been hit by Meteor Slash, the tank from the other group needs to taunt the boss, so as to alternate the group hit by this ability, giving enough time for the debuff to wear out.

To optimize their damage throughput, melee DPS can stay behind Argaloth and only stack when Meteor Slash is about to hit their group.

Healers have about 45s to heal the damage from Meteor Slash, as no other damage is to be expected if the fight is executed properly, which gives them ample time to top everyone off with mana efficient spells. Consuming Darkness is dealt with by the healers who need to be on their toes to dispel it as soon as possible.

At 66% and 33% health, Argaloth will cast Fel Firestorm, which lasts 15s and creates damaging patches of fire on the ground. Because Argaloth does nothing during these 15s, players should simply move around constantly to stay out of the fire, while damaging the boss when they get a chance to.

    Overview

This ravenous demon broke free of its cage and gained access to the western wing of the prison, devouring all of the inmates held there. Occu'thar's gluttony resulted in a body too bloated to escape its environs, effectively turning the prison wing into its new holding cell.

    Normal Mode

Occu'thar is a single phase encounter, which will test your raid ability to quickly kill adds, while performing a tank swap.

In addition to Occu'thar himself, your raid will regularly have to kill some Eyes of Occu'thar which the boss will spawn. These have fairly low health and must be killed speedily, or your raid will face heavy damage.

Focused Fire an ability which targets a random raid member and places a void zone on his location. The void zones do a large amount of fire damage each second and last 15s. This ability is cast roughly once every 15s.

Searing Shadows is a frontal cone attack which deals a very high amount of shadow damage to any players in front of the boss, and increases their shadow damage taken by 100% for 30s. This ability is cast once every 20s.

In addition to this, the boss will spawn an Eye of Occu'thar for each raid member, except for Occu'thar's current tank. The eyes will attach themselves to the players, and move with them.

Eyes of Occu'thar have the following two abilities:

Gaze of Occu'thar each Eye of Occu'thar damages the raid member it was spawned on for a small amount of shadow damage per second for 10s.

Occu'thar's Destruction any Eye of Occu'thar that is not killed when 10s from spawning have passed will detonate and deal a large amount of raid-wide shadow damage.

Your tank should always face Occu'thar away from the raid, so that no one other than himself is ever damaged by Searing Shadows. After the first Searing Shadows, the off-tank should taunt the boss and continue to face him away from the raid, while the main tank should move behind the boss while his debuff persists.

Your raid should be slightly spread out to reduce initial damage from the void zones placed by the boss through Focused Fire. As the Eyes of Occu'thar spawn, your raid should collapse to a location not affected by a void zone, and AoE down the eyes.

The tank who is currently not tanking the boss will also have an eye placed on himself, and will have to stack with the rest of the raid. The tank who is tanking Occu'thar when eyes are spawned has no special task to perform, and should simply tank the boss.

Your aim is to ensure that no Eyes of Occu'thar live beyond 10s. Should this happen, raid damage may quickly overwhelm your healers, though a few Eyes surviving may be manageable.

    Overview

The Kirin Tor imprisoned Alizabal in their formidable Violet Hold not long after corrupt magi summoned the shivarra into Azeroth. Despite arcane wards restricting her powers, the demon's malicious influence alone caused her guards to murder one another in sudden fits of rage. Her transfer to Baradin Hold prior to the Cataclysm has only aggravated the ruined prison's increasingly dire conditions.

    Normal Mode

Alizabal, Mistress of Hate, is a single phase encounter that will not present your raid with any difficult challenges.

During the encounter, your tanks will have to taunt the boss off of one another at specific intervals, and the rest of your raid members will have to stack up and spread out at certain times.

Skewer is an ability that Alizabal uses to stun the current tank and apply a debuff on them, that causes them to take 10k physical damage every 2s for 8s as well as a 150% increase in damage taken for the same duration. Dealing with this ability requires a tank swap.

Seething Hate is a debuff that Alizabal casts on a random raid member. She appears to cast this ability roughly every 20s, although this timing is often offset by her next ability. It deals a high amount of fire damage split among all players within 6 yards of the afflicted player.

Blade Dance is an AoE ability that Alizabal uses to damage all players within 13 yards of her. She casts this ability once every minute. For 15s, Alizabal deflects all attacks made against her and will move around, from random player to random player, several times while this effect is active, before returning to her normal state.

The tanks should taunt the boss off of each other each time the current tank is afflicted by Skewer.

The entire raid should stack up in melee range of Alizabal. This will make healing easier and will ensure that the damage from Seething Hate is soaked properly.

When Alizabal goes into Blade Dance, everyone should spread out immediately, and any players that Alizabal moves to should get away from her immediately to reduce the damage that they take.

Healers should expect rather high tank damage (both on the current tank and on the tank who is taking damage from the Skewer DoT) as well as moderate amounts of raid damage.

As a useful reference, Seething Hate appears to always be cast twice in between two casts of Blade Dance, meaning that if two Seething Hates have been cast, your raid can spread out in anticipation for Blade Dance.
